FOG Index

“Convenience, convenience, convenience.” That’s the appeal of an on-campus job, and that’s he main reason why students came to the job faire, said the Human Resource Manager Mary Lewis.
The job fair, which took place on Wednesday, August 24 in the Art Quad, offered many on-campus job opportunities for students. The options varied from full-time jobs to part-time jobs and from active jobs to not so active jobs.
The job fair was a great opportunity for all students because “these jobs are safe, they are convenient and they offer on-the-job training,” explained Lisa Thomas, director of human resources.
All of the jobs available will help students meet other San Jose State University students as well as make money. Jobs start at $9 an hour and can range up to $14 an hour, depending on the type of job.

That was the excerpt of one of my own writings.

When I calculated my FOG using part of this paper, I got  FOG of 12.

I think that this fits me. I normally do tend to write long sentences with commas in them. I also like to use big words, which is not good for newspaper writing. I do not think that 12 is too bad of a number to get, although it is recommended to get around a 7 or 8. It is easy to read something that is a little smaller, but I guess I tend to elaborate and stretch things out. Shortening up sentences could be good and I should work on getting my FOG down.
